D28S Volunteer Job Information

Title: Run Aid Station #2

Location: Paseo Verde Pkwy

Aid Station Location: Paseo Verde Park is just south of the 215 off Valle Verde Drive. The park will be closed to traffic but one entrance will remain open for volunteers, spectators and media.

Parking: We should have ample parking available in the park and along the side. If we run out of spaces we can use the Smith’s shopping center parking lot as overflow. We will not be the only people parking here so give yourself a little extra time to find a space. Carpool with others if you can so we can make the most of the limited spaces available.

Date: Sunday, September 11, 2011
08:00 AM - 04:30 PM

Coordinator: Eric Larsen (elarsen@rei.com // runinman@gmail.com)

Description: Aid station volunteers are among the most vital volunteers! While on the course, the aid station volunteers cheer on and encourage the athletes, offer them cold drinks and snacks, and generally just have a great time! Aid stations are encouraged to select a festive theme and dress up, make signs, play music, or anything else you can dream up. At the conclusion of the race, athletes will vote on their favorite aid station of the day and the winners will receive cash prizes!!

What to bring:

REI and Ironman will provide food and beverages for breakfast and lunch for all volunteers. We’ll also provide sunscreen, chairs and shaded areas for our down times as well as coolers if you need to keep something cold.

Items to consider bringing for yourself on race day include:

• Personal sunscreen and/or hat

• Comfortable shoes that may get wet

• Chair, cooler, personal foods

• Water bottle

• Noise makers, cowbells, signs, chalk
